Requirements
Position Title: Assistant Counselor
Reports To: Camp Director
Department: Camp
Classification: Part Time, Non-Exempt, Seasonal
Compensation: $15.00-$16.00/hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Camp Counselor is responsible for providing a fun and safe environment for children to play, learn and grow. This position will help and lean in to support the lead counselors and camp director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for assisting with before and after care
- Assist Lead Counselors with daily camp activities
- Ability to lead and assist in varied group activities and daily routine
- Communication to director regarding issues and or concerns
- Arriving to work on time and prepared to start the day with a positive attitude toward each child, coworker and inquiring parents while wearing the designated camp shirt and ID lanyard at all times
- Other duties assigned by immediate supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 16 years of age
- Will need to provide three letters of recommendation
- Must be able to pass a Child Abuse & Neglect background check through DHHS if 18 years of age or older
- Responsible, dependable, enthusiastic and able to communicate effectively
- Strong understanding of the YMCA mission and adhere to YMCA values
- Must be willing to work flexible hours from 6/16/2025 through 8/22/2025
- Current Adult/Child CPR and First Aid Certification before 6/16/2025 (internal training provided)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- A required 30-hour training week will take place between 6/9/25 and 6/13/25
- CPR/AED and First Aid required before 6/16/2025
