Requirements
Position Title: Marketing Assistant
Reports to: Marketing Director
Department: Administration
Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Schedule: 15-20 hours per week
Compensation: $17.00-$20.00/hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marketing Assistant will support the Marketing Director on tasks such as social media management, content creation and internal marketing materials that highlight the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA’s mission, program and events. At the discretion of the Marketing Director, the assistant will collaborate and support the different departments while effectively promoting the Y’s impact.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create, schedule, and publish dynamic content across various platforms in alignment with the Y’s brand and voice
- Monitor the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA’s social media engagement while responding to inquiries and tracking performance metrics
- Research and stay up-to-date on social media trends and recommend strategies to enhance the reach and engagement
- Write and edit content for social media, newsletters, website and other outlets of communication
- Capture photography and videography during Y programs and events for social content and marketing use
- Create digital and print materials such as signage, posters, event flyers and promotional items
- Ensure internal materials reflect current programs, promotions and important member updates
- Organize and maintain the internal library of YMCA photos, videos and marketing materials
- Assist with coordinating and promoting special events and campaigns
- Provide general administrative support to the marketing and engagement team
- Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate by direct supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 18 years of age
- Experience in marketing, communications or related work (experience through internships or coursework is acceptable)
- Proficient in social media platforms and basic analytical tools and software
- Strong oral and written communication skills with attention to detail
- Familiar with using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom)
- Experience capturing and editing photos in various settings, video experience a plus
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Possess a strong understanding of the YMCA and its purpose, mission and values; demonstrates this understanding through behavior and actions that support the purpose, mission and values
- Current certification in CPR and AED; complete trainings in Child Abuse Prevention and Blood Borne Pathogens (internal training provided)
