What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Executive Housekeeper (FT) position at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa?
SUMMARY
Assists with the directing of all housekeeping operations to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of establishment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the Director of Housekeeping setting the standards and procedures for work of the housekeeping staff. Plans work schedules to ensure adequate service. Holding monthly meetings with housekeeping staff.
Inspects and evaluates physical condition of establishment. Including, but not limited to; guest floors, guest rooms, public lobbies, public washrooms, offices, condominiums and other areas
Coordinate the hiring of supervisors and support staff with the Director of Housekeeping needed to maintain the facility and grounds
Responsible for establishing and maintaining of workable controls and inventory on: all linen-daily in/out records, issuing, guest supplies, uniforms, and cleaning supplies.
Maintain established cost per occupied room levels as set by the DOHO and the Director of Housekeeping.
Assist in answering incoming calls and directing to the proper areas, and to keep an accurate phone log of all calls to insure each duty is taken care of properly.
Maximize productivity and minimizing wasted labor and other expenses
Correct scheduling as related to occupancy, eliminating overtime or keeping it at a minimum should the need arise
Assist in daily assignments for housekeepers and overseeing the housekeeping department
Address any and all complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment
Assist in control of Lost and Found/Uniform room
Responsible for maintaining strong communication with all areas of the resort
Complete a daily walk-thru of the resort public areas, and guest rooms weekly (Hotel, Tower, and Condos) to ensure they meet the standards set forth from the Director of Housekeeping
Complete all assignments requested of you.
Must follow proper grooming and dress standards set forth by the Employee Handbook.
Maintain open line of communication with supervisor.
Must understand and abide by environmental practices of the resort.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, Associate’s Degree with 6 years of hotel experience, with 3 years at a supervisory level, required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must possess a valid MI Drivers License and be insurable by Grand Traverse Resort and Spa
Capable of managing a staff in excess of 75 employees.
Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office Functions and have experience with Property Management Software.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Will plan, supervise, and be accountable for all employees’ daily activities.
Is expected to schedule, evaluate, and discipline.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Employee may stand for long periods of time.
