What are the responsibilities and job description for the Restaurant Outlet Bartender (FT) position at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa?
SUMMARY
Mixes and serves alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks to patrons of bar by performing the following duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide quality products, excellent service and a friendly atmosphere for all customers
Greet and serve customers both at bar and at tables
Operate MICROS computer system. Complete accurate closing shift reports and daily deposit drops
Make alcoholic drinks/per resort recipes, etc. for servers
Maintain Resort issued bank for cashiering
Cashier for servers and guests
Check all stations and supplies for cleanliness. Responsible for cleaning and sanitation of own area
Answers telephone according to training guide, receive reservations and post in reservation book with accurate information if applicable
Keep accurate accountability of waste and spills daily
Acts as a lead when supervisor is not present, have the ability to monitor intoxication levels
Converse with customers, report any complaints to manager
Help outlet employees if needed, reset tables, fold napkins, complete side work and end of shift work.
Check computer systems for paper each shift
Maintain proper sanitation, safety procedures and cleanliness in work area
Follow all policies and procedures outlined by Manager and the employee handbook
Act as an extension of the security department in protecting the assets of the hotel and all guests by observing and reporting and questionable activity
Assume all responsibilities as delegated by the Manager and do any or all other duties that may be required to fulfill customer needs and requests
Be knowledgeable of products and quantities, report supply needs to manager
Maintain a high standard of sanitation and safety
Attend meetings and complete online training
Complete all assignments requested of you Report activities, sales about your shift
Keep waste and spoilage to a minimum by proper rotation, storage, and usage of all food items
Must follow proper grooming and dress standards set forth by the Employee Handbook
Must understand and abide by environmental practices of the resort
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Previous serving experience preferred
Must be 18 years of age, as required by law
TIPS certification preferred
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Applicant needs to be able to work in a fast paced environment and able to work varied hours to include weekends and holidays. Time off requests are only granted if business allows. Applicant must be able to work well as an individual and as a member of a team with a goal of providing outstanding guest service.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear.
The employee must occasionally stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, twist, turn, and carry up to 35 lbs or more, continually for up to 8 or more hours
Have the ability to walk up and down stairs
Carry oval serving trays and tray jacks that are loaded with dishes and/or food.
Able to move tables and chairs as needed for seating arrangements
Able to walk on carpet and concrete surfaces
Able to read, write and count money
Able to wash glasses and restock

Applicant needs to be able to stay upbeat and positive in a fast paced work environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
Indoors and outdoors in both hot and cold environments
Crowded areas
Using various chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing according to MSDS standards
Mandatory to work weekends and Holidays
May be required to work in other departments

Native American Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and an oral drug test as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality
