What are the responsibilities and job description for the (Seasonal) Laundry Aide 1 position at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa?
SUMMARY
Sort laundry and fold terry/linens. Provide service to guests and other departments. Maintain the cleanliness and order of the laundry facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a high level of workplace safety
Operate the laundry equipment safely as trained
Adhere to personal appearance standards and present a professional image
Monitor the quality of laundered linen/terry. Notify your Laundry Manager/Supervisor of any deviations or unacceptable linen/terry
Maintain a continual flow of linen/terry as directed
Maintain a pleasant and tactful personality
Possess excellent organization and communication skills
Maintain high staff morale and project a positive attitude
Work effectively with others
Detail and quality oriented
Ability to multi-task
Possess excellent time management skills and be comfortable with meeting firm deadlines
Responsible for any projects assigned to you
Assist in any area of laundry that you are needed
Report any misuse of linen/terry to your Laundry Manager/Supervisor
Ensure that all laundry employees are meeting Grand Traverse Resort and Spa standards
Responsible for any and all other reasonable requests by management
Must understand and abide by environmental practices of the resort
Other duties may be assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Minimum 1 year previous Housekeeping/Laundry experience preferred
High school diploma or its equivalent preferred
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Positive, upbeat attitude. Good communication skills, including verbal and written. Ability to work under pressure and strict deadlines.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to used hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear
Folding and sorting towels
The employee is required to work with laundry equipment, for instance feeding sheets into an ironing machine
Employee will stand for partial periods of time
During our summer/peak months of May - October employees must be physically able to work in warmer conditions that range from 85-100 degrees on a consistent basis

Will work under strict deadlines and encounter unexpected demands. Stress level is moderate. Will work with varied personalities and situations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The noise level varies from quiet to loud
The atmosphere is fast paced
The labor and physical activity is moderate
The days have a start time and conclude when all assignments are completed; which is determined by the Laundry Manager or supervisor at that time.
COMMENTS
Native American Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and an Oral Drug Screen as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality
