The CAT Scan Technologist performs imaging utilizing the appropriate equipment for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment planning. The ideal candidate will demonstrate competency in skills necessary to care for patients served. A graduate of an AMA-Approved Radiologic Technology Program. The CAT Scan Technologist must be competent to perform multiple types of Cat Scan Imaging including CTA, Perfusion, biopsy, and CT guided procedures, involving Emergency Room Patients, surgical patients, inpatients, and outpatients. The Candidate must have good technical and communication skills, the ability to work with all levels from staff to physicians, and triage quickly in a fast-paced work environment.
Essential Functions :
- Selects appropriate equipment and supplies needed to perform each procedure to provide continuity of care
- Selects proper technical factors according to established protocol and study requested to produce quality images
- Positions the patient according to established protocol to provide optimum diagnostic information
- Assists radiologists and staff physicians as requested to promote continuity of care
- Performs quality control on all completed studies prior to radiologist interpretation to assure optimum information and verifies all studies in PACS
- Ensures equipment viability through performing established warm up procedure and equipment quality control
- Calibrates equipment and performs required quality control procedures daily in order to assure equipment viability
- Communicates procedural instructions to all patients prior to examination in order to assure patient comprehension
- Reviews the daily patient schedule to maximize efficiency and minimize patient waiting time
- Practices proper infection control
- Practices Image Gently Protocols.
Schedule : This position will be a cross training opportunity. The training will be initially during the day with training on all shifts. The end shift will be based on the need of the department. Holiday and Call rotation required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience :
Vocational diploma from an AMA approved radiologic technology program required
Associate's Degree from an AMA approved radiologic technology program preferred
Over 6 months to 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred
Licenses and Certifications :
Radiological Technologist – Certified, Upon hire, required
CT Technologist – Certified, Within 1 year of hire, required
Basic Life Support (BLS), Within 2 weeks of hire, required
IV Certification, Within 90 days of hire, required
