Responsibilities
The Patient Service Representative for the Cardiology and Radiology department is responsible for a wide variety of functions such as handling the arrival and/or departure of patients, handling patient calls and inquiries, coordinating patient appointments, updating patient insurance/billing information and performing point of service activities to ensure quality of care to the child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. Candidates must have good communication skills, and the desire to make a positive impact on the lives of patients. Must have the ability to multi-task, take initiative to complete job duties in a timely manner, and be responsible.
Job Duties:
- Greets patients in a polite and courteous manner and obtains demographic and insurance information.
- Schedules patient appointments according to the guidelines.
- Has a thorough understanding of the insurance plans accepted.
- Responds to patient communications and routes messages to the appropriate medical staff.
- Assists with scanning reports, laboratory studies, consult letters, mail and other essential paperwork into patients’ medical records.
- Tracks missed appointments and appointment cancellations, contacts patients to reschedule after discussion with care team.
- Checks patients out addressing all payments due and any outstanding balances.
- Make appointments for patients as necessary with specialists and for testing.
- Identifies barriers to care language, vision, hearing and communicates special needs to care team.
- Issues insurance referrals, obtain pre-certifications, and assist with closing referral loop work lists in Meditech
- Preps charts for the day. Verifies patient demographic and insurance information is correct.
- Assists with filing, mail distribution, and other general office processes as indicated.
- Exercises good judgment and communication; demonstrates an awareness of emergency situations.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Qualifications
Education and Expererience:High School Diploma/GED And Over 1 year to 3 years experience in a medical office required,
