Position Overview:
The Irrigation Specialist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the property's irrigation, sprinkler, and drainage systems. Key duties include inspecting and testing systems for potential issues, performing necessary repairs such as valve replacements, and evaluating system design and pipe sizing. The specialist also oversees the winterization process for all sprinkler systems. Additionally, this role may assist with general landscaping tasks, including mowing, weeding, and routine grounds maintenance.
Duties & Responsibilities
Install and repair irrigation and sprinkler systems.
Conduct system tests to identify and troubleshoot potential issues.
Oversee the winterization process for all sprinkler systems.
Repair and replace sprinkler valves as needed.
Assess pipe sizing and overall irrigation design for efficiency and performance.
Order irrigation supplies and manage inventory in coordination with the Grounds team.
Maintain accurate understanding of supply stock and storage procedures.
Support general landscaping activities, including mowing, weeding, and routine maintenance.
Practice and promote safe work habits; follow recommended safety procedures for all tools and equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Strong attention to detail and awareness of safety hazards.
Hands-on experience with irrigation systems.
General knowledge of landscaping, irrigation, and horticulture.
Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines; flexibility to work varying hours.
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with scheduling or payroll systems.
Ability to lift over 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (6–7 hours), and to bend, reach, and climb stairs.
Capable of reading chemical labels and writing clear reports and assessments.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
1–2 years of experience in grounds keeping, property management, or a related field; experience in hospitality or golf course maintenance is a plus.
Valid driver’s license may be required for operation of company vehicles.
