Job Summary:
The Server plays a vital role in providing a pleasant dining experience for residents in our senior living community. This position is responsible for serving meals, maintaining cleanliness in the dining area, and ensuring residents receive friendly and attentive service in a warm, welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet residents and guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Take meal orders and serve food and beverages according to dietary requirements and preferences.
- Ensure tables are set properly before meals and cleared promptly afterward.
- Provide attentive service, ensuring residents’ needs are met throughout their dining experience.
- Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Assist with meal preparation, plating, and delivery as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area, including resetting tables.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff regarding meal orders and special requests.
- Follow all safety and health regulations, including infection control and sanitation standards.
- Engage with residents in a positive and respectful manner, fostering a sense of community.
- Assist with special events, themed dinners, and community activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dining Services Manager.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or a senior living environment preferred but not required.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- A friendly and compassionate attitude toward seniors.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures (ServSafe certification a plus).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Obtain Food Handlers Permit (as required by state regulations)
Education and Experience Preferences:
- One to three years of related work experience.
- Formerly trained in culinary arts.
