We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our team in providing exceptional care to individuals in an assisted living environment. As a Medication Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring that residents receive their medications safely and effectively while maintaining their dignity and quality of life.
Duties
- Administer prescribed medications to residents according to established protocols and guidelines.
- Monitor residents for any adverse reactions or side effects from medications and report findings to nursing staff.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, including medication administration records and any changes in residents' conditions.
- Assist with the management of medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to develop individualized care plans that address the unique needs of each resident.
- Provide support and assistance to residents with daily living activities as needed, fostering independence while ensuring safety.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation and communication purposes.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance skills related to patient care and medication management.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of physiology and basic medical terminology is essential.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems (Epic, Cerner) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for accurate medication documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team focused on providing high-quality care.
- A compassionate approach towards patient care, demonstrating empathy and respect for all individuals.
- Certification or training as a Medication Technician or similar role is preferred but not required.
