Mental Health Professional

Mental Health Therapist - Full time

Reports To: Executive Director

Requirements: Must have an advanced professional MSW degree with an emphasis on child psychology. Professional license to practice therapy and legal to practice in the state of Arkansas, or supervision by a licensed professional is required. Licensed mental health therapist, licensed marriage and family therapist or licensed clinical social worker, preferably with a minimum of three years experience working with child abuse victims and has experience supervising other therapists.

Must have or obtain certificate of completion of ARbest Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Training and participate in ongoing support.

Position requires the ability to read, analyze and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, agency procedure manuals and contracting source regulations. Must be able to write progress notes, reports and program-specific procedures. Must also possess ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, associates and the general public. Verbal and communicative skills are extremely valuable.

Must have ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Purpose: To provide professional counseling services to primary and secondary victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse and severe neglect through assessment, treatment planning, provision of therapy, maintenance of case, training and participation in multi-disciplinary teamwork.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Work in conjunction with Director and CAC Staff to meet project goals.
  • Communicate with Director regarding changes and/or problems regarding clinical issues with CAC clients.
  • Write protocols for therapy.
  • If degree appropriate, may supervise therapy cases seen at the CAC by other staff therapists.
  • Assess all CAC clients and or referrals to determine treatment needs.
  • Serve as client and or CAC advocate, consultant, and liaison with community agencies to ensure client continuity of care.
  • Attend all multi-disciplinary and Center team staff meetings.
  • Provide crisis intervention, as well as individual, family, collateral and/or group therapy to CAC client families.
  • Train CAC staff and interns on issues related to client confidentiality, basic abuse dynamics, therapeutic techniques, treatment planning and documentation.
  • Provides Director a monthly report on cases and demographics, more often if requested.
  • Be willing and available to testify in court as needed.
  • Enter pertinent client data in Track System on a daily basis.
  • Provide case notes and pertinent crime victims information on clients seen to Director daily.
  • Keep up to date on recent studies and research in the field. Upon request, give report on chosen relevant subject at CAC / MDT Staff meetings.
  • Travel is not reimbursed and is required between each of the center’s locations.
  • Assist with implementing wellness activities with the CAC and MDT staff. Coordinate with the Wellness committee to support wellness programs.
  • Coordinate with other Community mental health therapist and share information and trainings.
  • Help maintain facility cleanliness and safety.
  • Help promote Cultural Competency
  • Any other duties requested by the Executive Director.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.85 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
