What are the responsibilities and job description for the 25-26 Director of Special Services position at Grandview Educational Administrative Center?
NOTE: This position is for the 2025-2026 school year. The salary will be based on the 2025-2026 salary schedule which is not yet approved by the Board of Education. The salary listed is based on the current year's salary schedule.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Missouri Administrative certification in Special Education
- Special Education Teacher or School Psychologist certification
- Masters Degree in Special Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 month contract
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and coordinate special education programming for qualifying students.
- Assist in the adaptation of school policies to include special education needs.
- Recommend policies and programs essential to the needs of exceptional children.
- Coordinate and facilitate the district's homeless student program.
- Coordinate and facilitate the district's English Language Learners' program.
- Supervise and coordinate home instruction for homebound or hospitalized students.
- Coordinate transportation services for eligible students in special services placements.
- Keep informed of all legal requirements and financial aid governing special education.
- Provide leadership in establishing new programs and developing improved understanding of existing programs.
- Establish procedures for placement, referral, evaluation, psychological examination, assignment, and reappraisal of students with regard to the special services program.
- Assist in the recruitment, selection, and hiring of special education personnel.
- Develop and maintain complete and cumulative individual records of students receiving special services.
- Supervised preparation of attendance reports and similar data necessary for reimbursement of funds, collecting of tuition for out-of-district students and similar fiscal matters.
- Develop budget recommendations and provide expenditure control on established budgets for special education.
- Interpret the objectives and programs of the special education services to the Board of Education, district administrators, district staff, and public at large.
- Coordinate and facilitate programs to supplement regular classroom instruction for students with learning or visual disabilities.
- Consult with parents enrolled in the program.
- Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development as related to current literature, new research findings, attending appropriate professional meetings and seminars.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of special educatin staff development.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Salary : $98,641 - $125,063
