Reports to: Director of Special Services
Job Goal:
To provide leadership, management, supervision, evaluation, coordination, and direction within the special services department. Responsibilities include strategic professional development, monitoring special education and Section 504 compliance to meet state and federal mandates, and supporting equitable evidence-based practices and programming for academic growth and achievement for students identified as gifted and talented.
Performance Responsibilities:

Using a continuous improvement model, monitor the effectiveness of special education and gifted programming and provide guidance to the Director of Special Services, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, and other senior staff on necessary programmatic changes and expectations to ensure increased student achievement.

Communicate effectively with staff, principals, leadership, parents, agencies, facilities, districts and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Support and engage with the district’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Team/Student Success Teams, Referral Review Committee, and Least Restrictive Environment Committee.

Supervise the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Extended School Year (ESY) each summer.

Support, supervise, and lead building counselors with effective implementation of Section 504 Plans in compliance with state and federal laws including, but not limited to, annual training.

Support, supervise, and lead building process coordinators with effective implementation of evaluations and Individualized Education Plans in compliance with state and federal laws including, but not limited to, annual training.

Collaborate with the Director of Special Services on reporting and compliance, including preparation and submission of all reports and data for federal, state, and district monitoring of Special Education

Coordinate relevant professional development for licensed and classified special services department staff.
