Employment Status : Regular, Exempt, GHEA Bargaining Member

Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Appropriate State of Ohio teaching certificate / license
Preferred Career Tech License or working towards

Position Summary

The Industrial Tech courses provide students with an opportunity to learn about Project Design and Engineering Technologies. Designated as elective courses for students in grades 9-12, these classes foster creativity, problem-solving, craftsmanship, and technical proficiency. Through collaborative exercises, students will experience the real-world applications of industrial technology.

Course Description :

Project Design I , this course introduces students to fundamental woodworking and fabrication techniques through hands-on, project-based learning.

Students will develop essential skills in hand tool and machine operations, emphasizing precision, safety, and problem-solving.

They will engage in design thinking, utilizing sketches and digital planning tools to conceptualize and construct functional projects.

The course fosters creativity, craftsmanship, and technical proficiency, preparing students for advanced design and construction opportunities.

Project Design II & III , this course will build upon the foundational skills developed in Project Design I, allowing students to refine their craftsmanship and explore more complex design and construction challenges.

Students will apply advanced hand tool, power tool, and machine operations while engaging in independent, self-directed project work.

Emphasizing creativity, problem-solving, and precision, students will design, draft, and construct innovative projects tailored to their interests and skill levels.

These courses provide opportunities for deeper exploration of materials, techniques, and construction principles, preparing students for further study or careers in design, engineering, or skilled trades.

Engineering Technologies , this introductory course is open to all high school students with no prior experience in Industrial Technology. Engineering Technologies offers a hands-on exploration of woodworking, machining, project design, and manufacturing processes.

Students will gain foundational skills in using industry-standard tools and equipment while learning to interpret and create project drawings.

Through collaborative exercises, including a mass production project, students will experience the real-world applications of industrial technology.

This course is designed to spark curiosity and build confidence in technical skills, preparing students for advanced study or career pathways in manufacturing, engineering, and industrial design.

Students will also have the opportunity to work toward earning industry-recognized credentials, providing a competitive edge for future educational or career pursuits in Ohio's growing technical and manufacturing sectors.

Professional Development

Be available for education related purposes outside the instructional day when requested

Serve on committees and participate in school related activities

Complete an individual professional development plan according to procedures adopted by the district

Learn and implement the administrative procedures associated with the teaching assignment

Communication and Collaboration

Communicate regularly and work cooperatively with peers, administrators and support staff

Effectively and clearly report to parents in a regular manner and at intervals established by the district and / or building

Use sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy when interacting with students, parents and the community

Maintain the confidentiality of information that is not public domain
