Title: Groundskeeper
Reports To: Director of Operations
Terms: 260 days, 8hrs per day; 6:00am-2:30pm
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- One to three years experience in groundskeeping or related fields
- Mechanical experience, with small engine and farm/lawn equipment
- Valid driver’s license
- Acceptable BCI and FBI Background Checks
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Supervisor and/or Board of Education may find appropriate.
Position Summary:
Responsible for the school district’s grounds safety maintenance and upkeep; includes responsibility for maintenance plan, repair/care of grounds, related work equipment, i.e. tractors, mowers, snow plows, snow blowers etc. Adjust to various locations and work requirements as needed, perform other duties assigned by the Director of Operations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Knowledge of the methods, tools and practices of groundskeeping equipment including, preventative maintenance, diagnostic and repair
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of groundskeeping
- Ability to diagnose and repair minor defects in equipment needed for position
- Coordinate work activities for maintenance crew assigned to grounds and landscaping
- Responsible for snow removal at all driveways, parking lots, sidewalks and entrances as close as mechanical equipment will permit
- Work with Athletic Director in the care and upkeep of athletic fields
- Identify needs for materials and equipment to maintain the grounds and playground equipment. Submit needs to the appropriate supervisor/administrator
- Deliver needed supplies and equipment to buildings
- Periodic checks of shrubbery, lawns and parking lots, and school property. Properly maintain grounds/school property
- Maintains irrigation equipment to ensure proper operation
- Plan and carry out a maintenance plan for tractors, mowers and other groundskeeping equipment
- Line athletic fields
- Mow grass as needed, trim shrubbery
- Paint fences, clear fence rows and use weed killer where needed
- Drive necessary vehicles and groundskeeping equipment
- Perform yearly inventory of vehicle maintenance
- Empty outside trash barrels as needed
- Maintains, paints, cleans, repairs, and prepares fences, swings, bike racks, bleachers, tables, and athletic fields
- Assist other members of the facilities department as needed
- Interact with others in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner

- Computer
- Motor vehicle, tractors, forklift
- Snow removal equipment including plows, snow blowers and other related items
- Various hand tools
- Lawn/field equipment (mowers, trimmers, edger’s, weed wacker etc..)
- Fertilizers spreaders and weed sprayers
- Athletic field line striping equipment
Salary : $22 - $25
