What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Driver position at Grandville Public School District?
SUMMARY: Provide safe and efficient transportation services for students over specified routes according to a time schedule. Complies with traffic regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):
- Show proficiency in handling and maneuvering the school bus safely and professionally.
- Complete a pre-trip inspection prior to each use of the school bus.
- Obey all traffic laws.
- Observe all FCC regulations for the use of the two-way radio.
- Supervise the boarding and deboarding of all students.
- Maintain student discipline on the bus.
- Keep assigned bus(es) clean each day and maintain at least one-half tank of fuel.
- Follow assigned schedules and routes and discharge students at authorized stops only.
- Transport only authorized students.
- Report all accidents and complete proper forms.
- Attend meetings as request or required.
- Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Follow all procedures, policies and directives of the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Possess a valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Possess a CDL Class B-P-S without air brake restrictions.
- No more than 6 points on driving record.
- Ability to pass the DOT annual physical.
- Ability to carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions.
- Willingness and ability to work cooperatively with and relate positively to staff, students, parents, community and others.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess a neat and clean appearance.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of the transportation staff.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- The employee may assist with physically lifting students (minimum 35#). The employee will sometimes push/pull items. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must be able to physically push objects.
- The employee must be able to assist students with standing, transferring and walking.
