Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage the store in a way that ensures that customers receive the highest level of service when they shop our stores
- Demonstrate and promote a culture of safety to every employee and immediately correct safety concerns to ensure a safe work environment for employees and shopping environment for customers
- Ensure that employees have the tools and supplies readily available to provide excellent service and complete their tasks safely and with efficiency
- Under the direction of the Store Manager, manage staffing schedule to ensure coverage in key service departments; as well as manage the flow of breaks and lunches so that employees receive breaks and lunches on time in accordance with meal/break regulations
- Conduct daily tours of sales floor, backroom, outside storage areas/warehouse, and exterior/perimeter to identify opportunities
- Delegate tasks to employees daily, based on merchandising needs, seasonality, and direction of the Store Manager, and follow up to ensure timely completion
- Monitor workflow and adjust tasks as necessary to achieve desired objectives
- Coordinate with Store Manager and Retail Supply Chain to achieve sales through store events and promotions
- Manage merchandise markdowns under the direction of the Store Manager
- Execute merchandising plans to maximize sales, margin, and profitability
- Review sales and financial reports to identify sales trends and areas for improvement
- Work with Inventory team to identify and react to new and deleted items
- Review bedding plant orders in collaboration with the Store Manager to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of each order
- Set TAB merchandise in a timely manner and communicate critical TAB-related information such as available quantities and physical placement of advertised items
- Coordinate the stocking of freight and provide merchandising direction to employees, under the direction of the Store Manager
- Work with Inventory team to ensure accurate pricing, signing, and in-stock of merchandise
- Work with inventory team to ensure backroom is maintained, inventory is being checked in and posted correctly, and that on hands are maintained in perpetual inventory correctly
- Monitor and order low-in-stock and out-of-stock items
- Ensure all endcaps display merchandise that is seasonally correct and are priced accurately
- Ensure that the store is recovered daily, including pulling merchandise forward, facing merchandise, and product rotation on dated goods
- Address all necessary facility maintenance and repairs quickly and maintain the cleanliness of the store
- Balance tills and safe daily and complete change orders
- Carry out corrective action/progressive discipline when necessary
- Train and develop employees in all aspects of retail operations
- Contribute of open lines of communication at store-level and companywide
- Perform Store Manager responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager
- Uphold all company policies and procedures
- Represent company with a professional appearance and demeanor
- Maintain strict confidence of all employee and employment-related information
- Travel to company location(s) as assigned
- Demonstrate regular predictable attendance
- Perform other tasks and duties as requested by supervisor
- This position has supervisory responsibility of all retail store personnel, for up to 50 direct reports at any given time.
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or and a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience, supervising a team of 20 direct reports.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
