What You’ll Be Doing:
- Provide hands-on technical leadership to research, source, interpret, catalog, and improve Grange’s structured and unstructured data assets to facilitate effective use.
- Help develop and implement enterprise data standards, working closely with business stakeholders, EDO leadership, data management associates, and IT resources.
- Work with a team of offshore analysts to perform data analysis across a variety of systems, identify data quality issues, determine root causes behind variances, provide resolution, and build routines for monitoring, based on data management best practices.
- Track and document data element lineage, record metadata, and contribute to data dictionaries and business glossaries.
- Lead development of key performance indicators, reports, scorecards, and dashboards that supply the enterprise with data performance results.
- Support architectural strategies designed to enhance data reliability and minimize redundancies.
- Deliver data analysis training as needed to relevant stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related discipline; master’s degree preferred.
- 7 years of related work experience (e.g. data analysis, data governance/management, data warehousing, database administration).
- Minimum of 3 years as a Data Analyst, ideally in Property and Casualty Insurance.
- Experience working with offshore resources preferred.
- Extensive experience profiling and analyzing data in mainframe and relational databases is essential. Experience with non-relational databases is a plus.
- Advanced SQL and Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using tools and processes for the collection, analysis and remediation of data quality issues. Newer approaches in identifying data quality problems (e.g. machine learning, neural networks, etc.) are a plus.
- Experience using data dictionaries, glossaries, and lineage-tracking tools.
- Experience building reports in tools such as MicroStrategy, Qlikview, Power BI, Tableau, etc.
- Knowledge of best practices in data management, data governance, master data management, metadata management, and business intelligence.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand business and technical functions, process information quickly, and assess impacts to data elements.
- Applied experience in following Agile methodologies preferred.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of people in technical and business functions of the organization.
- Ability to independently learn new technologies and data related approaches and educate stakeholders on the same.
