QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED required. Must meets federal/state required qualifications (72 college quarter credits or completion of the ParaPro test with a score of 455 or higher). Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred. Successfully pass background check, including criminal history.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Paraprofessional Instructional Assistant shall:
- Provide instruction to students through educational activities as assigned and supervised by the certificated staff.
- Assist the teacher in preparation, maintenance, assembly and return of instructional materials and equipment.
- Assist in scoring, collecting, organizing and recording data and information as needed.
- Maintain and assist in the preparation of various files, records, reports, etc. as directed.
- Assist in the supervision of students as assigned within the school building, on the school grounds, or on field trips.
- Function in compliance with guidelines established as criteria for each specific program as funded.
- Participate in in services, staff development, and growth activities which will enhance job performance and the mission and vision of the school and district.
- Develop and maintain a positive classroom environment. Establish and maintain collaborative professional relationships with others.
- Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents and colleagues concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of students.
- Assist with teaching students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior by developing a written classroom plan that is connected to the school wide behavior expectations (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports).
- Participate in district-wide improvement efforts/district initiatives.
- Engage in professional learning and implement strategies to support the learning needs of multilingual learners in either an English Immersion or Dual Language strand.
- Engage in professional learning to work towards the completion of the Para educator Fundamental Course of Study and receive the Para Educator General Certificate.
- Be in attendance and on time to each assigned duty.
- Respect and hold in confidence all information and observations of a personal nature pertaining to students, parents, and faculty.
- Maintain a neat and clean appearance, be suitably dressed, and present a pleasant demeanor. Acts as a positive role model to children.
- Assist in gathering materials relevant for use in units or topics of study as directed by the certificated staff.
- Assist in following a designated procedure for storing and checking books and other supplemental instructional materials.
- Perform non-instructional duties such as supervision of students during non-instructional times.
- Work cooperatively with students, staff, administration, and parents.
- Perform other duties as assigned by building administrators or federal programs/assessment director.
- Lift and carry 10-50 lbs. frequently.
- Use push and pull methods to move products in the work area.
- Store products requiring arm extension, straight and overhead reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting, twisting, and turning.
- Be on feet the majority of the work shift.
- Be of general good health.
- Must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
- The employee will work near or with mechanical equipment.
