Engineering Internship

Granger is seeking an eager engineering student to work on various aspects of waste management, along with research, budgeting and design. Typical activities incorporate civil engineering concepts, digital sensing and alerting and remote access and display. Other job functions will include assisting the Engineering Department in data collection and analysis, project development and design, engineering calculations and environmental compliance.

Accountabilities include the following:

AutoCAD

·        Updating landfill and facility drawings with survey information

·        Updating and formatting digital drawings

·        Land survey as-built entry and analysis for locating and installing infrastructure 

Soil Classification and Identification

·        Reviewing historical data to develop soil sampling and analysis plan

·        Conducting in-field sampling of soils

·        Compiling historic and new data to predict in-ground soil volumes

·        Calculating soil volumes for future landfill cell construction 

Data Analysis

·        Analyzing data from various systems to determine trends, such as signs of wear on equipment and forecasting failure or operational costs 

Miscellaneous Field Duties

·        Participating in various field-related activities to gain a better understanding of routine functions and needs of the business

Work Schdeule:

·        M - F, felxiable scheduling between 7am and 6pm (Summer Season)

Requirements:

·        College student in junior or senior year with at least two years of coursework completed in a civil, environmental or bioscience-related engineering program at an accredited institution 

·        Strong communication skills, understanding of mathematics and general engineering principles 

·        Letters of recommendation preferred

·        Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Michigan
