We’re looking for an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and regulatory compliance. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in the banking or mortgage industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions.
- Reconcile complex accounts, including cash, prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for internal stakeholders, including executive leadership and mortgage branch managers.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Monitor and reconcile loan and warehouse lines to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Provide financial analysis and strategic insights to drive informed decision-making.
- Set up new branches, loan officers, and vendors in financial systems.
- Work with Loan Vision Software and QuickBooks to manage and analyze financial data.
- Collaborate with auditors and regulatory agencies to support compliance and financial reporting requirements.
- Assist in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the banking or mortgage industry.
- Strong knowledge of financial markets, GAAP, and regulatory compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in the mortgage banking industry, with knowledge of Loan Vision Software.
