What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interim Director of Nursing position at Granite County Medical Center?
ROLE EXPECTATIONS:
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Granite County Medical Center nursing and nursing support staff. Successful Interim DON will be available to staff for care coordination needs and questions. All issues, concerns and questions will be elevated to the CEO for direction when DON support when needed or Senior Leader on Duty as applicable.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities for the Interim Director of Nursing (DON):
- Supports and practices the mission of the Granite County Medical Center.
- Demonstrates positive, supportive, and caring behaviors in communication with patients/residents, families, visitors, physicians, staff, and all others.
- Supervises and directs the nursing care team of Granite County Medical Center:
- Scheduling of nursing and nurse support staff.
- Covering any nursing and nursing support staff shifts otherwise uncovered due to holes or call offs if coverage is unavailable to maintain safe care ratios.
- Bimonthly payroll review and approval to align with timely payroll completion expectations.
- Review and approval of contracted staff timecards for accounts payable.
- Interviewing and hiring decisions aimed at elevating care quality and reducing contracted labor.
- Coaching and discipline as required for optimal teamwork, safe and quality patient care, and alignment with policies and procedures.
- Being available to nursing care team for questions, concerns and ideas to improve care quality.
- Plans and directs safe and complete staff orientation customized to the needs of new employees based on knowledge and experience at time of hire and based on progression of orientation. Responsible for approving nurses' completion of nurse orientation prior to independent patient assignments.
- Owns creating clinical staff user accounts with correct user access in the electronic medical record by start of orientation for all direct reports.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CEO.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered Nurse with current licensure and in good standing in the State of Montana required.
- Current CPR, ACLS, PALS certifications with-in 6 months of hire required.
- Management/supervisory experience in a hospital/emergency room or long-term care facility of at least three (3) years preferred.
Material/Equipment Directly Used: Sphygmomanometer, telemetry, crash cart supplies, stethoscope, ear thermometer, two-way radio, telephone, pager, fax machine, scanner, copier, Microsoft office, Athena medical supplies/equipment, IV equipment, suction equipment, oxygen administration equipment, internal feeding equipment, oximeter.
