Job Description
Personal Care Aides (PCAs) provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and other personal care needs to individuals who are elderly, disabled, or otherwise in need of support. They work in a variety of settings, including private homes, assisted living facilities, and healthcare facilities. Some specific tasks of a PCA include :
1.Assisting with ADLs, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
2.Providing companionship and emotional support to clients
3.Preparing meals and assisting with feeding, as needed
4.Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry and cleaning
5.Assisting with mobility and transferring, including using a Hoyer lift
6.Administering medications and monitoring for side effects and adverse reactions
7.Keeping accurate records of client care and communicating with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
8.Observing clients and reporting changes in condition or behavior to a supervisor or healthcare professional
Education and certification requirements for PCAs vary by state, but most positions require a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a state-approved training program. Some states may also require certification or registry as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA). A valid driver's license and reliable transportation may also be required for some positions.
This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
