What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Medical Assistant position at Granite Peaks Gastroenterology?
Granite Peaks Gastroenterology is a busy and fast-paced Sandy clinic. We believe in compassion care and exceptional service and our clinic is very patient-focused. We have an exceptional physician group that serves our patient population. We are looking for a Intake Medical Assistant to support our growing and dynamic team.
The Intake Medical Assistant works with the practice physician and is expected to have a general knowledge of all clinical operations. The Intake Medical Assistant will assist the physician in an out-patient clinic setting and perform vitals, obtain histories and other intake requirements in additional to procedure assistance, diagnostic and laboratory order entry, and performance of various in-office testing. The Medical Assistant will provide a professional interface between the patient, doctor, and front desk throughout the patient visit as well as provide follow up patient communication.
Medical Assistant Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Obtaining patient vitals and patient history; documentation in EMR system (NextGen)
Provide a professional interface between the patient, doctor, and front desk throughout the patient visit.
Provide clinical support by following up on diagnostic testing requests from providers.
Ensure medications prescribed during appointment are entered and sent via ERX to patients preferred pharmacy.
Assisting doctors with the examination of patients and performance of procedures
Maintain a high degree of professionalism and compassion in sensitive discussion.
Schedule office visits when needed.
Sanitization, Biohazard, stocking and maintaining inventory of patient exam rooms.
Enter medication requests into patient chart for provider approval. Send in medication requests as directed by provider.
Perform initial medication, lab, radiology requests as needed.
Maintain attestations for HIPAA and other regulatory bodies as requested.
Complete MIPS documentation requirements
Perform in-office H-pylori testing, Bio-Fire Assay education and SIBO testing.
Maintain Medical Assistant credentialing status as required by regulatory agencies.
Assisting with patient education and return calls.
Mailing and sending results, referral, reminder, and correspondence letters
Other duties as assigned by manager or provider.
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
- Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice.
- Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
- General knowledge of computer data entry (Microsoft Office Suite, Windows, EHR)
