Current teachers under contract with Granite School District do not need to apply to be a coach. Please contact the school and make them aware of your coaching interest.
Job Summary :
The incumbent will be responsible for directing, or assisting to direct, a competitive sport program and meeting the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) requirements for the program. The coach is both a mentor and positive role model for all students with which they interact.
Required Knowledge and Skills :
- Ability to build a positive working relationship with students, school staff, administration, parents, and the community.
- Skill in developing young athletes while building a strong, positive, and competitive team culture that includes good sportsmanship and excellence in the classroom.
- Ability to mentor, train, and educate athletes in the sport and the necessary skills and techniques related to the game.
- Ability to foster excellence and a winning culture both on and off the court or field.
- Ability to train and educate student athletes in safety and injury prevention.
- Knowledge of UHSAA requirements and regulations.
- Ability to continue a program with strong traditions and the skills necessary to work with an involved community.
Minimum Requirements :
Coaches have significant unsupervised access to students and are required to clear a background check prior to serving as a coach. Granite School District will cover the cost of this background check.
