What are the responsibilities and job description for the Daycare Teacher position at Granny's House Daycare?
- Providing basic care for children which includes feeding, grooming, and changing diapers.
- Prepare and serve meals
- Oversee the safety of children in your care.
- When necessary, administer first-aid or CPR to children.
- Developing age-appropriate socialization skills in children.
- Design and follow a full schedule of activities and discover suitable teaching material
- Balance your teaching between logical and social exercises
- Use a wide range of teaching methods (stories, media, indoor or outdoor games, drawing etc) to enhance the child’s abilities
- Evaluate children’s performance to make sure they are on the right learning track
- Remain in constant communication with parents and update them on the progress of their children
- Observe children’s interactions and promote the spirit of concord
- Identify behavioral problems and determine the right course of action
- Collaborate with other colleagues
- Adhere with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by the Alabama Department of Human Recourses
- Encouraging positive behavior and good manners.
- Attending staff meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- Holding regular parent-teacher meetings to address any issues, concerns, or parent complaints with the supervision of the Director.
- Providing a pleasant, safe, and sanitary environment.
- Develop an effective cleaning plan to ensure all of the interactive areas are sanitary and safe.
Childcare Teacher Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Child Care Professional (CCP) certification is advantageous.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Proven experience working as a Childcare Teacher.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred.
- Clear criminal background check.
- In-depth understanding of childhood development.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Attentive and patient.
Training Requirements for the Alabama Minimum Standards:
Within thirty (30) days after employment, child care workers/ teachers shall have at least twelve (12) clock hours of training in child care and development through participation in workshops, meetings, videotapes, or one-to-one consultation, unless written documentation of prior equivalent training is on file. Training in child care shall include at least one (1) hour in each of these areas:
(1) child development;
(2) health, safety and universal precautions;
(3) quality child care and licensing;
(4) the child care professional and the family;
(5) language development;
(6) positive discipline and guidance.
