The Grant Park Music Festival (the Festival) in Chicago, Illinois seeks a full-time Education Programs Assistant for the 2025 summer season. The Education Programs Assistant is a key member of the Education and Community Engagement team, providing key support for the Festival’s lifelong learning and community engagement initiatives and working to produce more than 70 live educational events for over 8,000 music lovers of all ages in the most spectacular locations across Chicago, including the Festival’s home at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. The Festival team is deeply committed to serving the people of Chicago through our mission of enriching lives through the power of music. The Education Programs Assistant gains valuable experience in event/concert planning and production, marketing, and program evaluation. We seek hard workers and detail-oriented, passionate problem solvers dedicated to providing the best service to Festival patrons, musicians, guest artists, and co-workers.

The Education Programs Assistant will work across all Festival departments, with artistic leadership, and will also interact with the Festival’s amazing lineup of guest artists. 2025 guest artists include pianists Joyce Yang, Steven Osborne and Clayton Stephenson; violinists Augustin Hadelich and Jennifer Koh; cellist Inbal Segev; woodwind quintet Imani Winds; and conductors Osmo Vänskä, Anthony Parnther, Andrew Litton, and Joseph Young, among others.

KEY DUTIES

  • Assist with logistics and operational needs for all Festival education and community engagement programs.
  • Work with Teaching Artists to assist with setup, scheduling, and logistics for Classical Campers program participants, ordering buses, confirming schedules, and assisting Teaching Artists as needed.
  • Serve as primary staff contact for participants in the Festival's Visiting Masters and Young Artist Showcase programs, managing student needs for the series and assisting with stage managing the events.
  • Assist with efforts to maximize awareness of Education activities in partnership with the Festival’s Marketing team.
  • Assist with Festival’s Night Out in the Parks programs, including artist travel, promotional efforts, and on-site coordination and logistics.
  • Assist with evaluation and analysis of education and community engagement programs.

MINIMUM CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of professional experience in music education, concert/event production, or a similar field.
  • Thorough knowledge of, and passion for, live music (classical music a plus).
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; highly adaptable and resourceful.
  • Genuine interest in engaging with Festival visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic computer tasks.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors at times and possibly in inclement weather.
  • Must be available to work assigned schedule early June through August 16, 2025 without interruption (schedule generally provides for two days off per week).

COMPENSATION/SCHEDULE

  • $17.00/hour, typically 30-40 hours/week. This position is non-exempt.
  • Some nights and weekends (generally Saturdays) are required during the Festival season (June 11 – August 16).
  • Position Start Date: mid-May 2025 (specific start date TBD by mutual agreement).
  • Position End Date: August 16, 2025
