The Director of Buildings and Grounds is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the facilities and equipment as well as ensuring the property is well maintained and fully operational. This position manages the maintenance team as well as contractors and third-party vendors. This senior-level position is also responsible for budgeting, purchasing, scheduling and contract negotiations.


Essential Job Duties

  • Scheduling and managing preventive and routine maintenance on all building systems across the entire property.
  • Drafts and implements routine maintenance schedules and standards; ensures compliance with these standards
  • Oversee and supervise the quality of work for other employees to ensure that all tasks are performed correctly, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of buildings and systems of varying age, with some structures well over 100 years old.
  • Create and maintain the facility maintenance budget.
  • Conducts and documents regular inspections and implements corrective action.
  • Oversee all contractors that work at the facility. Ensures all contract work is performed to expectations, meets safety requirements and within budget.
  • Creates long-range plans to support future needs and growth and works with the team to develop plans for renovations and updates.
  • Forecasts, allocates, and supervises the financial and physical resources of the facility management.
  • Negotiate contracts with outside vendors for execution of maintenance work
  • Forecasts and presents maintenance plans and projects to senior leadership
  • Ensure that company premises and facilities are kept in clean and quality condition and compliant with relevant laws, regulations and safety standards.
  • Assist team members when needed to accomplish team goals

Minimum Qualifications

  • Follows all company policies and procedures
  • Must be able to manage/prioritize multiple projects or duties at once
  • Strong organization and communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively to guests, team members, and contractors.
  • Encouraging to team and staff; able to mentor and lead
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities management.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or equivalent related functions


Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, inclement weather, cold, etc.
  • Computer skills; including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strict adherence to company philosophy/mission statement/sales goals
  • Must pass a criminal background check
