Grant Wood AEA is accepting applications for Occupational Therapist for the upcoming 2025-26 school year to start in August.
Job Summary
Partners with educators, families and communities to provide effective learning environments for all students. Helps ensure success for all learners.
Assists students in accessing their education in the least restrictive educational environment in the identified performance areas of: activities of daily living, educational and work activities, and play and leisure skills.
Responsibilities
Supports total school/community efforts to create a positive learning environment for students/children.
Serves as liaison among AEA, district building(s), families and community and collaborates with various teams to assure positive outcomes for all learners.
Models, implements and assesses strategies related to learning, social, emotional and behavioral needs to enhance educational programming for all learners.
Provides ongoing support to educational staff related to applicable rules and laws.
Integrates research into the design of best practices.
Consults with teachers and administrators regarding best practices for classroom and building educational programs.
Follows policies, procedures, standards and rules in accordance with national and state laws, the Iowa Dept of Education and GWAEA, which includes, but is not limited to, developing and maintaining proper and adequate records and documentation.
Collaborates with teams using a problem-solving model.
Assesses/evaluates the student’s functional performance in areas of activities of daily living, educational and work activities, and play and leisure activities.
Interprets assessment/evaluation data to develop and implement appropriate intervention plans to enable students to participate in their educational environment. Reassesses and modifies intervention plans as necessary.
Provides consultative, integrative, and direct services identified in the IEP/IFSP to enable students to participate in their educational program.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
2.Licensed in Occupational Therapy by State of Iowa Department of Public Health.
3.Authorized by IA Board of Educational Examiners.
