Compensation:
- $16.16 - $17.36 per hour depending on experience
- If bilingual (English/Spanish): $17.36 - $18.98 per hour depending on experience
- Paid Sick, Bereavement, Civic, and Personal Leave provided
Qualifications: High school graduate or GED

JOB TITLE: Paraeducator
REQUIREMENTS:
Education Level:
- High School Diploma. Effective July 2010 for all new hires or transfers - Must have completed two years of study (48 credit hours) at an institution of higher education or obtained an associate’s degree or passed a state approved assessment. FPS will assist in the administering of a state approved exam if applicant does not have college credits.
Certification/Licensure:
- None Required
- First Aid/CPR certificate preferred
Experience Desired:
- Some experience working with children in an educational setting.
Other Requirements:
- Have an interest in young people and an ability to deal fairly and tactfully with students.
- Possess a positive attitude toward education and a helpful attitude toward people.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty and staff.
- Ability to carry out assignment in effective support of the instructional program.
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator and the assigned faculty member.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The essential functions of each employee’s position includes (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities and to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements on their specific job description.
Basic:
- Work involves performing paraprofessional tasks in support of classroom instruction, classroom activities and building activities. Work may involve the limited instruction and supervision of students under direction of a faculty member or Principal. Work also may require duties of a clerical nature and supervision of non-classroom areas such as cafeteria, playground and other areas of the campus. Assignments are received orally and/or in writing from faculty members and/or the Principal.
Frequent:
- Assist with the classroom preparation and clean up.
- Attends to the physical needs of younger students and accounts for articles brought to school by children.
- Assist faculty member with copying of materials, organizing instructional materials, etc.
- Supervise students on grounds, cafeteria, playground and other areas in and around the school building(s). Maintains order.
- Assist with the clean up of small spills and messes.
- Perform related work as assigned.
