JOB TITLE: Patient Financial Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for obtaining scheduled patient’s insurances benefits and payment arrangements

RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Business Office Manager

Supervises: None

QUALIFICATIONS

High School graduate required

2 years insurance experience preferred

1 Years Medical or Dental Office Experience Required

Microsoft Word and Excel experience required

MENTAL DEMANDS

Require constant judgment and response. Require language skills adequate for written and interpersonal communication in American English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Require visual and auditory acuity adequate for frequent use of computers and occasional use of other business office equipment. Ability to sit for long periods and to perform desk and office activities.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE

Category II exposure to bloodborne pathogens and many encounter chemical hazards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND OBJECTIVES

  • Supports the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Organization.

1.1 Performs according to approved policies and procedures.

1.2 Participates as a team member in support of the total preoperative process.

1.3 Considers patient rights in performance of job duties and responsibilities.

  • Contributes to the progress and development of the Organization’s adopted Quality Management Program.

2.1 Performs according to established quality management policies and procedures.

2.2 Supports risk management and participates in programs directed to patient and employee safety.

2.3 Objectively evaluates suggestions, grievances to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care.

2.4 Successfully contributes to the quality management process and identifies role and contributions upon supervisor’s request.

  • Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers.

3.1 Interactions are respectful and courteous.

3.2 Communicates effectively and professionally.

3.3 Documents that information received from the patient is disseminated to the appropriate people of department.

  • Maintains professional competence by participation in continuing education and other learning experiences.

4.1 Participates in committees, conferences and quality management activities when necessary.

4.2 Seeks new learning experiences by accepting challenging opportunities and responsibilities.

4.3 Objectively evaluates suggestions and criticism and attempts to improve performance or seeks further guidance, as needed.

  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities.

5.1 Reports observed or suspected safety violations, hazards and policy and Procedure non-compliance to the Safety Officer or other designated person.

5.2 Observes safety measures in performance of job duties and responsibilities.

5.3 Responds to emergency situations with competence and composure.
6. Provides communication appropriate to the patient’s age group.
5.1 Accurately to assess and interpret age-specific patient data.

5.2 Correctly interprets age-specific responses to questions and instructions.

5.3 Considers age-specific patient requirements when responding to emergency situations.

7. Verifies insurance coverage, council’s patients about facility charges and

insurance coverage’s.

7.1 Communicates all financial aspects of care to patients

7.2 Reviews estimated fee schedules with management and patients

7.3 Obtains any and all referrals and authorizations for patients procedures

7.4 Documents prequalification of third party payer before date of schedules admissions

8. Access to Patient Health Information.

8.1 Complete Medical Record access.

8.2 Complete Computer network access.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 34 – 40 per week
