Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

  • The primary goal of the Granville County Department of Social Services is to enhance the quality of life of our residents through programs and services that help the vulnerable, the aged, the young, the sick and the economically disadvantaged. This position is in the Adult Medicaid Review, Long Term Care and Special Assistance program area in the Economic Services unit. The primary purpose of this program is to administer the policies of the Adult Medicaid programs and assist people with accessing benefits available through the programs administered by the workers in this program.

Primary Purpose of Position:

  • The primary purpose of the Lead Income Maintenance Caseworker III (IMC III) is to serve as lead worker over level III income maintenance caseworkers who determine eligibility for program benefits through the Adult Medicaid program. The person in this role will serve as lead worker over level III income maintenance caseworkers and program area which perform all functions (i.e., intake, processing, and review). Work may also include performing the same eligibility determination functions as the Income Maintenance Caseworker III. This lead worker will be performing a wide range of tasks in the eligibility determination/re-determination process which require an in-depth knowledge of all income maintenance programs and functional processes. Work also involves the resolving of client appeals of actions taken by income maintenance case workers, the analysis of program-wide problem areas which include recommendations for corrective action and the training of new and transitional employees for specialized programs (Long term care and Special Assistance). This employee assumes responsibility for the resolution of complex problems where the consequence of their action can have a considerable effect on the client, and/or the agency. Other duties may be assigned to the worker when deemed necessary by the Supervisor. This person must be a proficient user of the North Carolina Families Accessing Services through Technology (NC FAST) program.

Work Schedule:

  • The normal work schedule is mostly Monday through Friday 8:30am-5pm, with some after hours and weekend work on occasion due to shelter duty, projects, and other departmental needs.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of income maintenance program assigned.
  • Considerable knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. General knowledge of all income maintenance programs.
  • Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of regulations, policies, and procedures of varying complexity.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work.
  • Ability to instruct and evaluate the work of lower-level employees.
  • Ability to train employees in new and existing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants.
  • Ability to perform caseworker functions under and within structured time frames.

Required Minimum Training:

  • Two (2) years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience determining eligibility for State or County Department of Social Services program (Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services, Work First, Childcare Subsidy, Child Support, or Energy Assistance Program).
  • Two (2) years of program specific experience (Adult Medicaid)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $47,574.00 - $72,493.00 per year
