Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:
- The primary goal of the Granville County Department of Social Services is to enhance the quality of life of our residents through programs and services that help the vulnerable, the aged, the young, the sick and the economically disadvantaged. This position is in the Food and Nutrition (FNS) program area in the Economic Services unit. The primary purpose of this program is to administer the policies of the FNS programs and assist people with accessing the benefits available through the programs administered by the workers in this program.
Primary Purpose of Position:
- The primary purpose of the Income Maintenance Caseworker II (IMC II) is to determine/redetermine applicant/client eligibility for program benefits through the FNS programs. The person in role will be completing tasks such as interviewing clients to obtain required information, completing initial applications, verifying the information obtained, determining eligibility, and/or completing scheduled program reviews. Employees must explain program(s) requirements and options and advise or refer clients to other program services as appropriate. Other duties may be assigned to the worker when deemed necessary by the Supervisor.
Work Schedule:
- The normal work schedule is mostly Monday through Friday 8:30am-5pm, with some after hours and weekend work on occasion due to shelter duty, projects, and other departmental needs.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment.
- General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant.
- Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Ability to instruct and to evaluate the work of lower-level employees.
- Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.
- Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet business needs (e.g., Microsoft Office, NC FAST, and electronic document management system).
- Ability to review and assess financial information.
Required Minimum Training:
- One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
