Athletic Trainer – Job Description
Grapevine Faith Christian School exists to develop and graduate authentic Christian leaders.
Position Summary:
The Athletic Trainer supports the mission of our school by providing athletic trainer services to the Athletic Department. The Athletic Trainer plays a crucial role by providing professional support to the athletic program in the areas of injury prevention and treatment for our athletes. The Trainer will report to the Athletic Director.
Status: Full-Time / Exempt / 12-month
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with athletic department personnel on obtaining and accurately recording athletic pre-participation physicals.
- Ensure coaches are CPR/First Aid certified and keep accurate records for renewal.
- Instruct coaches, athletes, parents and medical personnel in the care of injury prevention.
- Provide treatment and rehabilitation of High School and Junior High athletes when injured to include accurate records by charting, filing of records, and communication with appropriate personnel on injuries and return to play protocol.
- Act as liaison between family physicians and specialists, the school nurse, athletes and their parents.
- Conduct and keep accurate records of ImPact testing for all JH and HS athletes.
- Provide athletic training services for all varsity home athletic games, away varsity football games, and all postseason varsity games.
- Oversee the hydration of the football team for all practices and games.
- Monitor and manage athletic trainer inventory.
- Maintain athletic training equipment and advise athletes on the proper use of equipment.
- Submit a weekly injury report to the Athletic Director and Head Coach(es).
- Ensure the Field House training room is kept organized and meets sanitation requirements.
- Coordinate, oversee, and direct the Student Athletic Training Program.
- Maintain the athletic training program budget.
- Attend and provide athletic trainer services during all junior high and high school athletic periods.
- Maintain and uphold the religious standards of Faith Christian School to include the Lifestyle Statement, Staff Covenant and Statement of Faith.
- Responsible to disciple, instruct and actively pray for the students on our campus.
- Responsible to reinforce a Biblical Worldview in every workplace interaction with both students, staff and faculty.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must possess and model a personal authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Must have a high level of discernment and wisdom, and the ability to manage confidential information.
- Proven leadership skills with an ongoing commitment to grow as a servant-leader and manage multiple projects effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in accordance with the President and Board’s expectations, established school policies and procedures, and the school mission and core values.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal and relational skills.
- Ability to work with others in stressful situations by keeping a clear head and calm demeanor.
- Detail oriented and the ability to adapt to new technology.
- Must be BOC certified and possess or be in the process of acquiring licensure, certification or registration from the state.
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a health related field.
- At least 3-5 years of previous Athletic Trainer experience is required. Experience in a school setting is a plus.
