Position Summary:
The Substitute School Nurse supports the mission of our school by providing health services to our students. The Substitute will provide health services to the students. The Substitute will report to the departmental administrator and School Nurse.
Status: PRN / Hourly / Non-Exempt
Responsibilities:
- Provide health services to the students following established school policies and procedures.
- Handle sensitive and/or confidential documents and information where judgment and discretion are essential by maintaining absolute confidentiality.
- Provide direct care utilizing professional assessment skills, the nursing process, and established school health protocols.
- Confer with parents and guardians regarding care of students with medical conditions.
- Confer with principals and teachers regarding student medical needs, restrictions and accommodations.
- Assist with state required health screenings (vision, hearing, AN, scoliosis).
- Provide children with a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.
- Maintains a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, and good taste.
- Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner to the constituency and general public.
- Maintain and uphold the religious standards of Faith Christian School to include the Lifestyle Statement, Staff Covenant and Statement of Faith.
- Responsible to disciple, instruct and actively pray for the students on our campus.
- Responsible to reinforce a Biblical Worldview in every workplace interaction with both students, staff and faculty.
- Other duties as assigned that are closely related to this position.
Qualifications:
- Must possess and model a personal authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Must be a member in good standing of a Bible believing church and lead a mature Christian life.
- Must have a high level of discernment and wisdom, and the ability to manage confidential information.
- Must have a current Texas RN or compact license. Experience in a school is a plus.
- Must have a BLS (Basic Life Support) CPR certification.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with the President and Board’s expectations, established school policies and procedures, and the school mission and core values.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal and relational skills and the ability to adapt to new technology.
Salary : $20
