Key Responsibilities:
File Preparation:
· Ensure digital files are in the correct format, resolution, and color space for the intended print size.
Preflight Checks:
· Verify files are complete and free of errors before printing, including checking fonts, colors, sizing, and resolution.
Layout and Design:
· Adjust layouts, optimize images, and ensure text and images are properly placed for printing.
Color Management:
· Adjust color profiles and ensure accurate color reproduction.
Technical Issue Resolution:
· Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that may arise during the prepress process.
Proofing:
· Review proofs to ensure accuracy and quality before printing.
Plate Making (for Offset Production):
· Prepare plates for printing, potentially using computer-controlled equipment.
Collaboration:
· Work closely with designers, printers, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth and successful printing process.
Qualifications:
· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
· Knowledge of Mac computer operating systems, hardware and software is imperative
· Pre-Press Experience preferred. (This is not a graphics designer's job.)
Salary based on experience.
Summary
As a Computer/Pre-Press Operator, you will be integral to the production process, ensuring high-quality print outputs through effective prepress operations. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will utilize your expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and color management to prepare files for printing.
