What are the responsibilities and job description for the Printshop Production Manager/Prepress Specialist position at Graphic Sky Printing?
Graphic Sky Printing is a small but growing digital print shop in Santa Fe, New Mexico, located near the expanding south side of the city. We focus on paper and cardstock printing on digital presses, basic folding and bindery services, small bulk mail jobs, banners and display boards, and fine art reproduction for local businesses, galleries, non-profits and individuals.
NOW HIRING: We are seeking a friendly and organized individual to join our team for a full-time position. In this role, you will be responsible for providing positive customer service, moving jobs through production, quality control, team member coordination and printshop organization. Prior experience in printing, prepress, and basic graphic design are a must.
Responsibilities
- Identify customer needs and generate creative ideas to develop printed materials
- Monitor incoming web orders and create in-person and phone orders
- Preflight, trouble-shoot, and prepare incoming files for press-readiness
- Manage the production team to ensure timely delivery of print jobs
- Maintain quality control before, during, and after job completion
- Support the owner and team through supply ordering and shop organizing
- Basic/light-duty design and file changes for incoming orders
- Assist the owner with daily tasks, outsourced orders, marketing, and strategy
- Experience with mail merge, Excel address lists, bulk mail processing is a plus
Requirements
- Trained in prepress production for 4-color and b&w jobs
- Experience with creating press-ready PDFs
- Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign experience/proficiency
- Strong in-person/phone communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency navigating websites, Mac desktop, DropBox and Mac Mail
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask
