Summary
Variable Data Programmer works in a fast paced, customer focused environment, uses problem-solving skills to analyze and troubleshoot problems as they arise and communication skills to consult with clients and co-workers to keep projects progressing forward.
Primary responsibilities include performing data operations such as conversion, address hygiene, and postal presort, as well as variable document composition and file creation. This role is primarily focused on implementation of JetLetter PSL and BCC which prepares data-driven production files for print manufacturing.
Success in this role requires strong communication, an ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment, and a full understanding of variable data printing.
Responsibilities:
- Build and/or maintain SOAP and REST APIs
- Assist in Troubleshooting DP-related issues in Production Departments
- Interface directly with Sales/CSR’s
- Must be able to analyze client requirements for direct mail and variable printing
- Create and design forms for variable data printing using BCC and PSL
- Implement rules, scripts, and data transformations within software
- Implement and automate process improvements both client and internal
- Participate in weekly production meetings
- Respond to client inquiries regarding status and change requests
- Identify issues and develop solutions
- Promote a proactive and sustainable compliance culture
- Lead and/or participate in special project teams
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 years of relevant experience using VDP technology and
- 2 years of experience working programming in C#, VBA, and SQL
- 1 years of experience with web services
- 1 years of experience Adobe Suite
- Strong data background working with client source data, including xml and JSON
- Experience with print stream formats: PDF, Postscript, AFP, and PCL
- Experience using a wide range of data structures including xml
- Working knowledge of security toolsets and workflows
- Solid data analytic skills required to correlate multiple data points
- Advanced documentation, prioritization and change management skills
- Ability to handle proprietary and sensitive information in a confidential manner
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent written communication skills
Preferred or Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable professional experience strongly preferred
- Print and mailing industry experience strongly preferred
- Good understanding of using barcodes, array manipulation, and sorting
- Familiar with postal design requirements
- BCC Mail Manager: 3 years
- JetLetter PSL VDP: 3 years
- Web Services/API, SQL, VBA, C#: 3 years
