Position Title: Veterinary Practice Manager
Reports To: Operations Director
Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and cross trained Veterinary Practice Manager to join our team. Our ideal candidate will be someone that is trained as a VA/LVT and able to work the floor in addition to managing the practice while we grow.
The PM is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the veterinary practice, ensuring efficient workflows, excellent client service, and a positive work environment for the team. This role requires a combination of leadership, administrative, and interpersonal skills to manage both the business and clinical aspects of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
1. Administrative Management
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize practice efficiency.
- Manage budgets, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Oversee inventory control, ordering supplies, and negotiating vendor contracts.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and DEA standards.
2. Staff Leadership
- Recruit, train, and supervise veterinary staff, including veterinarians, technicians, and receptionists.
- Schedule staff to ensure appropriate coverage and manage time-off requests.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and development opportunities.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented workplace culture.
3. Client Relations
- Ensure exceptional client service by addressing client concerns, complaints, and feedback.
- Oversee appointment scheduling and efficient use of practice resources.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve client retention and satisfaction.
- Represent the practice in community events and marketing efforts.
4. Financial Oversight
- Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue, client visits, and staff productivity.
- Develop pricing strategies and manage accounts receivable/payable.
- Collaborate with the practice owner to plan for growth and expansion.
5. Facility and Equipment Management
- Ensure the practice is clean, organized, and well-maintained.
- Oversee maintenance and repair of equipment and facility infrastructure.
- Implement protocols to maintain high standards of safety and sanitation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, veterinary science, or related field (preferred).
- CVPM highly preferred
- Previous experience in a managerial role within a veterinary setting
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency in veterinary practice management software Avimark
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of veterinary medicine terminology and procedures is a plus.
