Job Description: We are looking for an energetic and engaging person to join our team. The dog handler is responsible for walking, training and overseeing socialization amongst the dogs both during daycare and training. They help maintain a clean environment both inside and outside. Dog training instruction will be provided (as needed) so this position can grow with the business
About Us: Grateful Pups is a locally owned and operated dog training facility. We are growing our business and are looking for assistance handling and training dogs. We focus on the dog’s state of mind, rather than just obedience. We train in a home environment with outings to local stores, walking locations, fields, and restaurants. This focus provides more freedom for the dogs as they understand how to behave both inside and outside the home.
Responsibilities:
- Supervising dog interaction, focusing on safety and advocacy for each dog
- Walking dogs, sometimes multiple dogs at a time
- Provide mental stimulation and socialization for the dogs
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment both inside and in the yards
- Transporting dogs around town and to and from their cages
- Administering food, water and applicable medications to the dogs
Requirements:
- At least 21 years old with valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record
- Positive can-do attitude and passion for working with dogs
- Minimum of 1 year working with dogs (professionally or volunteer) – required
- Knowledge of dog behavior and understanding of dog body language
- Ability to handle and work with dogs needing behavior modification from anxiety to aggression.
- Capable and comfortable with using all types of training tools
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe environment for the dogs
- Basic video skills for filming a plus
- Ability to provide transportation for dogs around town
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and walk 3 miles in a day
- Willingness to work outside in all types of weather (we do live in the Hudson Valley)
- Willingness to work Monday - Friday

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
