Gratiot Integrated Health Network (GIHN) has an immediate opening for a grant funded part-time position to provide Crisis Intervention services to adults, children and families residing in Gratiot County.


HOURLY RANGE: $28.63 - $35.32

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Part-Time


Requirements

Essential Functions.

1. Performs emergency assessments of consumers with a mental health and/or substance use disorder, to determine the level of required service, and will make appropriate referrals to meet the identified needs.

2. Provides crisis intervention and access screen services to consumers by phone, walk-in or scheduled appointment.

3. Utilize crisis de-escalation techniques to manage individuals in distress, ensuring safety for all parties involved.

4. Provides support for Intensive Crisis Stabilization and Support team as needed.

5. Exhibits a solid understanding of the legal process and the criteria governing involuntary psychiatric hospitalization and subsequent legal proceedings.

6. Assist in referrals to appropriate community-based mental health services, shelters, or emergency resources.

7. Provides consultation, linking and advocacy, with referral sources such as physicians, schools, community professionals, hospitals, courts and families, as required, to meet the needs of the consumer and ensure the provision of services.

8. Advocates to obtain the least restrictive community placement based on the individual consumer needs.

9. Involved in organized, on-going, collaborative efforts that involve individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders which may require services from multiple systems.

10. Participates in staff conferences, consumer reviews and in-service training sessions as part of the clinical services team.

11. May serve as a member of the emergency services team that provides on-call, 24-hour crisis intervention to Gratiot County residents, utilizing a “no-wrong door” philosophy for both mental health and substance use disorders.

12. Maintain thorough documentation of all interactions, assessments, and interventions in accordance with department and regulatory standards.

13. Protects the security, confidentiality and integrity of all protected health information in a manner that is consistent with HIPAA, MDHHS and GIHN policy and procedure.

14. Assures consumers’ rights are protected and recipient rights procedures are followed throughout GIHN and its provider network.

15. Attends and actively participates in GIHN required training for both mental health and substance use disorders, as well as seeks external education opportunities for professional growth and development.

16. Abides by all applicable GIHN policies and procedures.

17. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.

18. Performs work and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Competencies.

Must demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge and use of appropriate approaches, skills and techniques which reflect an understanding and awareness of trauma and social, cultural and economic diversity of the target population served. GIHN employees will actively support the goal of person-centered planning and integrated care through the recovery process. GIHN employees will acknowledge and develop competencies to support the understanding of the complexities of the human condition and the manner in which physical health, substance use disorders, and physical and/or emotional trauma are interrelated to the need for mental health services. Must demonstrate computer skills, including entering and retrieving data. Must be able to read and interpret statistical data. Must demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must exhibit strong spelling, grammar and both oral and written communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibility.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment.

This job operates in a professional office environment and may also operate in satellite locations such as the local hospital, local law enforcement offices, county jail or consumer’s home. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work.

This is a Part-Time Position. Some flexibility in hours is required for this position due to the need to cover multiple shifts of varying times depending on the needs of the business.  Some evening hours and weekends may be required.

Travel.

Limited travel within Gratiot County is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work is required with Michigan licensure appropriate to professional degree, (i.e. LBSW), OR be a designated Mental Health Professional (MHP) and Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP). Must also be designated as a Crisis Professional. Must have experience in the provision of services to individuals and families with mental health illness, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders in a mental health or other human services agency.

Preferred Education and Experience.

Master’s degree in Social Work or Professional Counseling and Michigan licensure appropriate to professional degree, i.e., LLMSW, LMSW, LLPC, LPC, preferred. Three years of work in the mental health field with crisis intervention experience preferred.
