TITLE: Director of Pupil Personnel


QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Kentucky Certification


REPORTS TO: Superintendent


PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:


  • The Director of Pupil Personnel (DPP) shall enforce the compulsory attendance laws of the state.
  • Maintains an accurate census of children enrolled in the school district in grades kindergarten through twelve.
  • Assists all principals and teachers in the matter of improving student attendance.
  • Oversees the use of the accounting system used in the district to record student attendance and absences.
  • Compiles all records and reports relating to attendance and pupil accounting and keeps a file of these reports by the month.
  • Works closely with teachers, school nurses, guidance counselors, and the principals regarding students who are absent or tardy too frequently and who have not responded to the corrective efforts made by the principal.
  • Is available to administrators, teachers, students, and parents on an individual basis to explain attendance laws and policies to encourage faithful attendance.
  • The DPP is responsible for creating the Growth Factor Report and the End-of-Year Superintendent’s Report required by the Department of Education.
  • Maintains student enrollment records and transcripts according to the State Retention Schedule.
  • Works with local and state agencies in seeking solutions to student truancy and other social problems of school children.
  • The DPP works with the Graves County FAIR team as well as the local County Attorney and the Court Designated Worker to resolve matters of student truancy.
  • Coordinates the Home/Hospital program to identify and provide educational services to students too ill or injured to attend school.
  • The DPP shall attend all local and state meetings to keep abreast of matters concerning the operation of his/her office.
  • The DPP shall compile a list of all non-resident students for tuition purposes and also prepare the non-resident contracts.
  • Works on identifying problems originating from broken homes, neglectful parents, economic conditions of families, and other factors that may affect the regular attendance of students in school.
  • The DPP, with the help of the school Principal and guidance counselor, shall identify students that could be possible dropouts and work on strategies to prevent these students from dropping out of school.
  • The DPP is responsible for establishing a calendar committee to create a yearly school calendar.
  • The DPP shall keep a record of the number of Home School in the district and their enrollment.
  • The DPP shall participate in the development of orientation programs for new personnel.
  • The DPP shall provide district oversight to ensure that the Policies and Procedures are followed and applied.
  • The DPP shall provide district oversight in the process of reporting and investigating responsibilities concerning harassment and discrimination complaints for the school.
  • The DPP shall provide district oversight for ensuring that investigations are properly completed and documented.
  • The DPP shall provide district oversight to ensure that the school administrative staff follows through with whatever discipline the administrative staff determines to employ, if warranted.
  • The DPP shall provide district oversight to ensure confidentiality of all records and reports in the manner consistent with state and federal law and Board Policy.
  • The DPP shall be familiar with all Policies and Procedures.
  • The DPP shall consult with Board counsel as needed for legal guidance.
  • The DPP shall suggest updates, alterations, or amendments to Policies and Procedures.
  • The DPP shall attend supplemental training as available and appropriate.
  • The DPP shall perform other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.
  • The DPP shall provide district oversight for developing and maintaining school crisis plans.
  • The DPP shall assume responsibilities of District Safe Schools Coordinator.
  • The DPP will provide oversight for the Family Resource/Youth Service Center program.
  • The DPP will supervise and evaluate School Resource Officer.
  • Adheres to the Professional Code of Ethics.


EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.


  • This position will have 54 extended days of employment.
  • This position includes a stipend.
