What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Organist position at Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church?
Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) is seeking a skilled organist with the
ability to work in collaboration with our music ministry team. PCUSA is a denomination
whose doors are open to all.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This individual will serve as the organist/pianist for our weekly 11:00 AM Sunday
morning worship service and participate in weekly choir rehearsals on Wednesday
evenings. The organist/pianist will also be available for special services to include Lent,
Easter, Advent, and Christmas. The ideal candidate is a practicing Christian but does
not need to be a Presbyterian.
We are the proud stewards of a two manual and pedal organ constructed by the
Casavant Organ Company of St. Hyacinthe, Canada. It has 13 ranks and 728 pipes.
Our congregation supports an organ endowment fund which allows for regular upkeep,
tuning and maintenance.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in playing the organ, with a strong understanding of various musical styles, particularly in a church setting.
- Experience in accompanying choirs and soloists during worship services.
- Knowledge of liturgical music and the ability to select appropriate hymns and pieces.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with church staff and congregation.

Pay: $1,200.00 - $1,500.00 per month
Expected hours: 6 – 15 per week
