Position Description
Position Title: High School Mathematics Instructor
Department: Assigned building and academic area
Reports To: Principal
Evaluated By: Principal
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in secondary math at the minimum of intermediate high-advanced level according to the Arkansas Praxis test for math.
- Experience teaching algebra I, algebra II, geometry, and algebra III are minimum requirements.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Minimum of B/S Degree
- Arkansas Teaching License in Secondary Mathematics (7-12)
- Preference will be given to those with experience teaching higher level math.
- Hold a valid State of Arkansas Criminal History Records Check Approval.
Individuals in these positions teach high school students the concepts and skills of all levels of mathematics through Calculus.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Maintain a teaching assignment for each module.
- Instruct the assigned course(s) in accordance with the approved curriculum.
- Ensure that the quality and quantity of instruction provided in the classroom is consistent with the stated objectives of the school and Arkansas Dept. of Education.
- Maintain a daily record of student attendance and grades in accordance with school policy.
- Ensure that the classroom and school’s atmosphere is conductive to maximum learning and retention of students.
JOB GOAL: Instruct students and evaluate their progress to facilitate students in attaining their educational goals in learning mathematics.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:
Instruct students with a clear understanding and implementation of curriculum, instruction, assessment and climate and culture to achieve appropriate student outcomes. This duty includes:
- Provide effective, developmentally appropriate and differentiated language instruction for diverse learners.
- Provide high quality math instruction.
- Integrate strategies that support developing math across the curriculum for all students.
- Use appropriate instructional strategies for making content/math instruction comprehensible.
- Promote achievement in math in an enriched education model.
- Lead, advocate for and support a high-quality, effective math program in the school community.
- Interact with families and promote family involvement to support student learning.
