Quality Manager – Steel Processing | Manufacturing | $95K–$125K | Bedford Heights, OH

We are seeking a hands-on leader with steel processing, metal stamping, or heavy automotive manufacturing experience to drive quality initiatives, maintain ISO 9001 compliance, and foster a strong quality culture.

Position Overview:
The Quality Manager will oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) and lead a team of five. This is a floor-focused role (75% hands-on), ensuring product quality, conducting inspections, leading audits, and collaborating with internal teams and suppliers. This position reports directly to the General Manager with a dotted-line reporting structure to the Corporate Quality Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Supervise and develop the Quality Team, fostering a strong quality culture.
- Ensure ISO 9001:2015 compliance, conducting audits and working cross-functionally to maintain quality standards.
- Perform first article inspections, capability studies, gage studies, and calibration management.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Interface with suppliers and mills to resolve quality concerns and claims.
- Prepare and submit First Article / PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation per AIAG guidelines.
- Act as a hands-on leader, working closely with operations and ensuring quality on the production floor.
What We’re Looking For:
- 3 years of quality experience (5 years preferred).
- 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Industry experience in steel processing, metal stamping, or heavy automotive manufacturing (No plastics).
- Expertise in ISO 9001:2015 and quality audits.
- Strong hands-on leadership – must be engaged on the shop floor.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles (5S).
- Problem-solving skills (5 Whys, 8D methodologies).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and document control software.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Monday–Friday schedule: 7:30 AM–4:30 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- 40-hour workweek, with occasional OT during training and audits.
