Technical Operations Technician

The Role
As a Technical Operations Technician, you are responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the infrastructure and production systems for events. You will utilize your foundational understanding of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, general understanding of layer 2 networking concepts, and practical experience with Windows troubleshooting and maintenance practices.
The ideal candidate will have experience in troubleshooting complex technical issues, providing excellent customer support, and utilizing Problem and Change Management processes to maintain a stable and reliable infrastructure and broadcast production systems environment.
The Technical Operations team supports engineering teams by providing on-site presence and hands-on deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network equipment, IT systems, and broadcast production equipment for regional and global events. Occasional international and regional travel may be required to support our many road shows for up to four weeks at a time.
Responsibilities
- Layer 1 and Layer 2 network planning and troubleshooting.
- Building and retrofitting equipment into traveling cases.
- Utilization of bespoke and/or SaaS production workflows like IPTV, inventory management, and MDM/Computer Management.
- Maintain and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network components.
- Manage and maintain operating systems, applications, and security patches.
- Monitor and analyze system performance and recommend improvements.
- Provide support for access, desktops, laptops, and broadcast production systems.
- Utilize scripting languages and automation tools for PC management.
- Ensure compliance with company security policies and industry best practices.
- Document procedures and processes.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Perform other job-related duties and projects as needed and assigned.

Required Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in IT/broadcast production system administration or support.
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Proficient in Windows operating systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Strong initiative and growth mindset.
- Valid Passport with at least 6 months remaining before expiration.
Desired Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in live broadcast environments.
- 2 years of experience in sports and video game production environments.
- Proficiency in a second language is a plus.
- Experience supporting IT, broadcast production, or Audio-Visual systems at live events, conventions, conferences, or relevant gatherings.
- Understanding of Cisco Network equipment and tooling.
- Experience managing SaaS software applications.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages.
- Experience contributing to Problem and Change Management processes.
- Familiarity with servicing a broad spectrum of esports production tools, including FOG, Okta, VNC, Guacamole, Discord, Google Apps/Suite, and OBS.
Physical Qualifications
- Ability to sit, reach outward or above the shoulder, stand, walk, handle with fingers, stand, bend, and stoop.
- Ability to operate a keyboard, view a video display terminal screen.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overnight.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull road cases.
