WWSB ABC7, located in Sarasota, Florida is searching for our next Digital Content Manager. This position requires a journalist who thrives on "leading from the center", helping transform newsgathering and publishing with forward-thinking workflows, and measuring growth-driven results.

As our station’s Digital Champion, you’ll help teach best practices, create accountability through organization, and dream big as a digital innovator—with the big and small tasks at hand.
Working with established broadcast producers, anchors, and reporters, this news manager will continue to condition and develop the broadcast newsroom into our “station digital team”.
NOTE: WWSB-TV monitors and regularly covers extreme weather threats, including strong Tropical Storms and Hurricanes. The DCM leads station efforts to connect digital users with life-saving news and information when other forms of connectivity and communication are not available. Safety is always our top priority, and all teammates and management are required to be present at the station to serve our local community before, during, and after a storm.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited, to):
• Working alongside all news managers, assign, prioritize, and plan daily content and coverage
• Create, maintain, manage, and execute Digital Content Calendar
• Write and publish News, First Alert Weather and Sports Coverage on all WWSB digital platforms
• Lead, train, and mentor digital content producers and newscast producers assigned to conduct web duties
• Pivot into and respond quickly to breaking news on all platforms, including the stations CTV/Live Desk
• Grow production value and use of CTV/Live Desk opportunities with general assignment and promotable content/segments
• Gather, assess, share, and respond to digital analytics with real-time content recommendations and digital upgrades
• Create coverage plans for major coverage drivers, including First Alert Weather, Promotable, Elections, and Station Initiatives
• Review locally produced content for effective writing style, post timing, SEO, and cross-platform showcasing.
• Organize and Leverage User-Generated Content for broadcast and digital platforms
• Prioritize the creation and publication of meaningful, unique digital videos using platforms like Canva
• Collaborate with station leaders to conduct digital audits and creation of new user experiences on all WWSB Digital Platforms
• Drive CTV adoption and engagement with news and marketing teams to create and promote exclusive CTV content on platforms like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV
• Lead efforts to increase social referrals by developing engaging, shareable content that drives users to WWSB platforms
• Seek counsel regularly from and assist other station and digital leaders throughout Gray Media
Qualifications/Responsibilities:
• College degree with a focus on journalism preferred
• 3-5 years experience as a digital producer in a commercial newsroom is necessary
• Understanding of and commitment to ethical journalism
• Ability to work independently, with a team, and with different departments
• Familiarity with leveraging content management systems (CMS) to produce and edit content
• Ability to train, strategize,e and inspire teammates
• Demonstrated track record of growth using data & analytics
• Knowledge of SEO
• Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, late nights, holidays, and weekends if necessary
