Job Summary/Description:
WAVE in Louisville, KY has an opening for a Digital Executive Producer. This person will lead coverage, video, and strategy for all of WAVE's digital platforms.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assigns, prioritizes, and plans daily digital content and coverage.
- Improves the quality of the station’s digital and social platforms.
- Manages digital content producers.
Job-Specific Duties:
- Assigns, prioritizes, and plans daily digital content and coverage.
- Participates in editorial discussions by sharing digital analytics, content recommendations, and digital presentation of reporter content.
- Leads daily digital content planning meetings to organize, assign,n and prioritize content for digital platforms.
- Scouts stories and makes content recommendations throughout the day.
- Monitors daily content lists to ensure appropriate content prioritization.
- Manages the digital content calendar.
- Creates coverage plans for big news events, special coverage opportunities, and content initiatives.
- Collaborates with news managers to determine the overall coverage level of breaking news.
- Improves the quality of the station website and social platforms.
- Oversees the daily execution of digital content strategies.
- Reviews all content published to digital platforms and makes recommendations on writing style, timing of posts, SEO, and cross-platform showcasing.
- Uses website analytics and social insights to drive strategic content decisions.
- Manages real-time content producers.
- Oversees real-time content producer schedules, including PTO requests, holiday coverage, and weekend on-call rotation.
- Set goals and conduct quarterly check-ins for direct reports.
- Manages onboarding and training of direct reports.
- Offers real-time coaching and feedback.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Strong verbal/written communication skills and knowledge of AP Style required.
- College degree in Journalism preferred.
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to work well on your own, with a team, and with different departments.
- Ability to train, drive strategy, lead and inspire teammates
- Must be able to handle a wide variety of variables, including short deadlines, and shifting schedules.
- Other duties as assigned by news management.
