Job Summary / Description :
KCTV5, the Gray Television owned, CBS affiliate in Kansas City, is seeking the ultimate storyteller to join our sports department in the home of the 4-time Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs! We're looking for someone who can find great stories, has a strong work ethic, and can be a great teammate. We want someone who can work closely with the sports team and with the rest of the newsroom to create unmatched digital and streaming content.
Duties / Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following :
- Enterprising stories that matter to viewers- Shooting video, writing scripts, building graphics, and editing video that helps you tell complete and effective stories- Planning, gathering, assembling stories, and producing sports hits as needed- Delivering scripted material and ad-libbing with professionalism, personality, and purpose- Coordinating with the sports department, assignment desk, digital team, and producers to develop enterprising and exclusive content- Creating content and posting to digital platforms as news develops- Responding urgently and appropriately to breaking and developing sports news on-air, online, and streaming- Working under strict deadline pressure- Demonstrating exceptional time-management skills by meeting all deadlines- Appearing on behalf of the station at public events
