Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Bookkeeper & Assistant to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will support attorneys in various aspects of legal work, ensuring efficient operations within the office. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as proficiency in relevant software to assist with financial documentation and analysis.
Bookkeeping Responsibilities
- Accurate record keeping and filing of invoices and account documentation.
- Accounts receivable & payable
- Time keeping for attorneys.
- Prepare and send monthly bills.
- Files monthly & quarterly taxes.
- Conduct bank reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records for the firm.
Real Estate Closing Responsibilities
- Communication with a large range of clients including real estate agents, lenders/banks, other professionals and real estate clients.
- Scheduling meetings and closings.
- Obtaining various payoffs such as mortgage, lien and delinquent taxes.
- Add notes and pertinent information to files as it is received.
- Accurate document preparation.
- Answering phones, taking messages, client service.
- Manage real estate files and maintain accurate records of all debits, credits, receipts, documents and contact information.
- Conduct bank reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records for the firm and future audits.
Requirements
- Experience in banking, as a bookkeeper, accounting, or in a similar role within a law firm or other small business.
- Experience using QuickBooks and general ledger accounting practices such as reconciliations.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective client interactions.
- Familiarity with filing monthly and quarterly taxes is appreciated but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
